About Lumen Row

Most rooms are decided by the light in them. It is the last thing anyone chooses and the first thing anyone feels — the difference between a room you pass through and a room you stay in. Lumen Row exists because that decision is usually made badly, from a category that is enormous, poorly documented and mostly unlovely. We narrow it down.

A quiet showroom

Think of a well-edited lighting showroom on a side street rather than an aisle of boxes. Table lamps with some presence to them. Ambient and decorative pieces for the hour after sunset. Small functional lights for the places you notice only when they are missing — a hallway, the inside of a cupboard, the wall beside a picture. Nothing here is trying to be the loudest object in the room.

Form, warmth, scale

We choose on four things, in this order. The quality of the light itself: how warm it is, whether it glares, whether you can turn it down. Materials that look better with age rather than worse. Honest proportion, at the scale of real rooms rather than showroom sets. And usefulness — a lamp you reach for, on a standard fitting, that you can live with.

We are a retailer, not a manufacturer. We do not design or build what we sell. What we do is select it, photograph it, measure it and describe it accurately, which in this category is rarer than it should be.

Ordering should be the dull part. Orders are processed within 1 to 2 business days and arrive within 5 to 9 business days in total, with free shipping anywhere in the United States. We work with international fulfillment partners, and your order may be dispatched directly from our partners in Asia — we would rather tell you that plainly than have you discover it from a customs label.

If something is not right, you have 30 days from receiving your order to request a return, and there are no restocking fees. If an item arrives damaged, defective or incorrect, we cover the return shipping.
